Is a Bluetooth Motorcycle Helmet right for you?
Monday, July 25th, 2011A bluetooth motorcycle helmet is a great way for riders on the road to communicate with a passenger on their bikes, or if they are riding with a group or bikes or doing a tour, communicate with their fellow riders. These helmets are much more advanced, stylish, and more lightweight than older helmets which used microphones, and needed connector boxes or a 2-way radio in order to communicate in the past. The helmets can be customized and chosen in several design styles, colors, and come in several different brand names and outer shell styles; therefore, even if you want to have a unique style helmet, you can find one with a bluetooth connection for you to still be able to communicate with other riders.
Bluetooth technology is a way to wirelessly transmit signals, as in cell phones and the wireless bluetooth earpiece; the motorcycle helmets work in a similar fashion and have wireless connectivity devices in order to allow the driver to communicate with their passengers, or communicate with other riders, yet still not have a box and all the wiring connected on their bikes, in order to do so. The wireless device is extremely light, very small, and will not get in the way while you are riding.
The helmets which can be utilized are either full face helmet, half face, or open face helmets; basically the wireless device can be used with your favorite style helmet, however, they are typically used with full face (hybrid) helmets. Riders like them because they are similar to a cell phone bluetooth, so, using the bluetooth device on your helmet is not any different, and should not get in the way. These helmets are rather expensive, with the lowest base prices ranging around $150 (if you can find them on sale for a good deal). However, they typically run in the $200 price range and up.
For the ability to be able to communicate with other riders and your passenger on your own bike, without the drag and extra weight on your bike from all the wiring and radio devices which were required in the past, a bluetooth helmet is a great choice to consider, for all riders. Since they can be easily customized, and you can buy a helmet in a design scheme and style you like, all riders can find a helmet which will suite their bike, and their style.
